Current HEP Computing Upgrade Activities

CPU Expansion: (1) A HP/700 Unix workstation is being configured
to be included into the system.

                  (2) A PC with a 166MHz Pentinum processor has
been ordered. It will run linux to be used
                      for Babar simulations.

 Data Storage: (1) A 76 GBytes Fast-Wide SCSI-II disk array has
                      been installed and configured.

                  (2) A second Exabyte is being installed.

Safety/Operation: Three Uninterrupted Power Systems (UPS) have
been installed. They are being configured
at software level. (These UPSs can proivde
upto 7.5 minutes of power supply to a CPU-disk
system in case of temporary power failure.)

Network: Migration of local network from 10BaseT to 100BaseT
in the High Energy Physics Lab is under consideration.

Software: CVS, AFS and Babar simulation/reconstruction software
are planed to be installed locally.
