Translation table of Problems from third edition to second edition
We are working on an electronic, web-based Solutions “Manual” for our third edition. Until it is complete, you can still request the second edition’s Solutions Manual (ISBN 0-07-036699-3, copyright 1991) from your local McGraw-Hill representative, which in fact contains solutions to most Problems in the third edition. Since some of the Problem numbers have changed from the second to the third edition, we provide below a translation table for the Problems.
Here’s how to use this table to get solutions to Problems in the third edition. In the left column, find the Problem number in the third edition in which you’re interested. Opposite it in the right column is the corresponding Problem number from the second edition; go to that Problem number in the Solutions Manual from the second edition to get the solution. A blank in the right column indicates that no solution is available for the third-edition Problem in the left column (either there is not a corresponding Problem in the second edition, or the Solutions Manual from the second edition does not have a solution for the corresponding Problem).
