Dr. Poras T. Balsara is a Professor of Electrical Engineering with the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas.  He is also the director of Center for Integrated Circuits and Systems (CICS).  He received the L.E.E. diploma in electronics from the Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute, India in 1980 and the B.E. (electrical) degree with distinction from the University of Bombay, India in 1983.  He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Penn State University in 1985 and 1989, respectively. His research interests include, VLSI Design, design of energy efficient digital circuits and systems, VLSI architectures and algorithms for Signal Processing and Communications, computer arithmetic,  reconfigurable computing, and application-specific systems design.  He has published several journal and conference papers in  these areas. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.   Besides his academic work he also consults and conducts research in the IC design industry.
