On Sunday, April 1, 2001, the City of Plano held the Dedication Ceremony for the Christopher A. Parr Library. Plano has so honored Dr. Parr for his 27 years of volunteer service to the Plano Public Libraries. The new library, Plano's 5th and last, will arise at the southwest corner of Windhaven and Communications near the corporate headquarters park in far northwest Plano.

Also beyond the University, Chris is a member of The Plano Library Friends group. He has also served as President of Plano Sister Cities, Inc. Plano has a Sister City in Ivanovo, Russia; Chris is Chairman of the Plano-Ivanovo Committee. San Pedro Garza Garcia, Mexico, a suburb of Monterrey, is also Sister City to Chris's Plano. And a Canadian city, Brampton, a suburb of Toronto, is being considered; the Plano City Council has given its blessing recently.

Having already been to Russia four times, Chris will attend Ivanovo's Sequicenntenial Celebration and mark Plano's 10th annual connection to this city in August 2001. He will also cruise the Volga, Europe's longest river, to its mouth on the Caspian Sea.
