This brief
introduction to Cognitive Science is now completed.
As I have noted
earlier, Cognitive Science is the multidisciplinary study
Of intelligent
systems. Cognitive Science believes that the mind and brain are too complex
to be ultimately analyzed by any single discipline of knowledge and that a
true understanding of the mind and brain will require the cooperation of
multiple disciplines of knowledge.

UTD is one of the
few universitiies in the country to offer an undergraduate cognitive
Science program. You
are encouraged to check it out!! Students in this program
Are required to take
a large number lower-division computer science and math courses
Including Computer
Science I, Linear Algebra, Calculus I, and Calculus II. In addition, students
in this program take upper-division coursework in both Psychology and
Neuroscience. I am the Program Head of the Undergraduate Cognitive Science
Program and I encourage you to send me an email at any time if you have any
questions about our cognitive science program or cognitive science in
general!!!

You are encouraged
to explore additional aspects of
Cognitive Science by visiting the Laboratories web page associated with the
School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at the University of Texast at
Dallas. Also this page contains a link to provide information regarding the
Cognitive Science B.S. Major (or Minor) as well as a link to Careers in
Cognitive Science. A link to the Applied Cognition and Neuroscience Masters
Degree is also provided. And finally, links are provided to the Cognitive Science Society website which is
a central website for researchers who are doing scientific research in
the field of Cognitive Science.
As you can see, the
Cognitive Science Society website emphasizes the interdisiciplinary approach
to intelligent.
In addition, the Society for Mathematical Psychology
website s a central website fo researchers who are developing formal theories
of animal and human behavior.
