Attorney Services
Overview
The Students' Attorney is available to provide quality legal advice and consultation to all currently enrolled students.
The Students' Attorney also prepares and presents programs and publications concerning students' legal rights and responsibilities.
The Students' Attorney is free of charge, funded by student service fees and sponsored by Student Government.
Legal services do not include:
- Criminal/civil litigation
- Representation of a student in any legal or administrative proceedings involving UT Dallas or student housing
- Advice on matters of conflict between UT Dallas students
Eligibility
A valid UTD Student ID card is required for assistance and must be brought to the appointment for verification of current enrollment. You must be currently enrolled.
The attorney will not make initial consultations by telephone since there is no way to confirm that the caller is a student.
Students who have withdrawn from the University, faculty, staff, visitors, and alumni are not eligible for service.
Office Hours
The Students' Attorney schedule can be downloaded here. Generally, the Students' Attorney is available Wednesdays from 2-5pm by appointment.
The Students' Immigration Attorney can be downloaded here. Generally, the Students' Immigration Attorney is available Thursdays from 2-5pm by appointment.
Walk-ins may be seen as time permits.
Appointments may be made one week in advance and if the appointment must be cancelled, you must do so before the day of the appointment. Failure to cancel the appointment more than twice will result in the student's loss of the privilege of making another appointment during the current semester.
