About Us
We are your UTDallas Computing Help Desk
The Academic Computing and User Support Helpdesk is the doorway to computing assistance on campus. We receive hundreds of requests each day from faculty, staff, and students. Some of these are transferred to various departmental support staff for final resolution. Often, the Helpdesk can solve your problems right on the phone or interactively online. The UTD Helpdesk takes requests for help via email, telephone, and through our online chat services.
The UTDallas Computing Help Desk is your “go to” resource for campus technology questions. We assist students with wireless setup and troubleshooting, virus and spyware clean up, NetID, WebCT and Galaxy assistance. We provide free virus protection and can often point you in the right direction.
If we can't give you an answer, we will direct you to someone who can! You will be given a ticket number for tracking purposes. This allows you to watch the progress of your request for help online at https://hss.utdallas.edu.
Additionally, you can create your own tickets without even contacting us directly.
Remember that when you contact the UTD Helpdesk, we will do everything possible to help you find the answers to your questions. We are here to make computing on campus a smoother process for everyone. We are constantly improving our service and response times!
How Your Call is Handled
When you call into the UTD Help Desk, your call is entered into our HEAT ticketing system. This software routes email, phone and webhelp requests across campus to all areas of technical support ranging fromour departmental technicians in multiple buildings to our Campus Server administrators.
Our Call Center is manned by our very own UTD students. Each student is trained in customer service, problem solving and common campus issues. Helpdesk students go through one-on-one training that can last up to an entire semester. They are then evaluated for further advancement to one of our various support roles.
